Over the past 15 years, I’ve worked in a range of digital marketing roles – mostly client-side – across a variety of sectors from car and wedding insurance to hearing aids and solar panels. Earlier in my career, I also spent time at two different affiliate networks, which gave me a strong foundation in the technical side of digital marketing, particularly tracking and reporting.
For the last eight years, my focus has been on generating inbound leads through paid advertising. Working across different industries at scale, my most recent experience is in performance marketing – from campaign optimisation to landing page design and Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO). As part of this journey, I’ve built reporting systems, primarily using Microsoft Power BI, to give visibility of the full sales funnel to non-marketing stakeholders, and to provide detailed reporting on the marketing source of leads, to ‘close the loop’ and optimise campaigns based on lead outcomes.
Alongside my day job, I’ve spent the last seven years running a side-business – one of the first companies to sell bamboo socks on Amazon! This has taught me a huge amount about branding, product development, packaging design, fulfilment, e-commerce and Amazon PPC & SEO.
I’ve always had a keen interest in new technology, and try to stay close to the latest AI tools and advancements. While I’ve dabbled in coding for years, LLMs have finally allowed me to bring some of those ideas to life – whether it’s building reporting tools or automating repetitive tasks to drive efficiency. I’m interested in how AI will change the foundations of digital marketing, particularly in terms of personalisation and how users consume information and interact online.
Outside of work, I live near the coast in Paignton with my wife, three young children and a black Labrador Percy, and try to make the most of the moors and coast when time allows!
I’m really looking forward to learning from and sharing with the team at Optix, and getting stuck in delivering great results for our clients.
