Samuel Skinner has been at Optix since 2017 when he joined us as a Digital Marketing Executive before being promoted to Digital Marketing Manager and then Digital Strategist. These days Samuel is our Project Manager, find out more about him below…
What does your role at Optix involve?
I run all things web, as well as a mix of other projects such as UX, Design and a few internal things. I work with pretty much the whole team in one way or another, be that collaborating with design, inputting on pitches or organising work for the marketing team on the sites we look after.
What’s your favourite part of working at Optix?
I’d say variety and people. No day is ever the same and working with the team and our clients is always the best part of the day.
What was your background before joining Optix?
I studied film technology at university, before taking a slight swerve into an IT project/support role. That job was great but the industry itself just didn’t quite excite me, so four years ago I made the leap into a brand new career in the world of digital marketing.
Describe yourself in 3 words
Nerdy, Nosey, detail-oriented (is the hyphen a valid loophole here?)
What is your favourite tool which helps you to do your job?
Adobe XD. I’m not the designer at Optix but the ability to mock up visuals even just to explain an issue is very useful.
What is your favourite album?
No World for Tomorrow – Coheed & Cambria.
What’s your favourite book?
“Annihilation” by Jeff Van Der Meer – not as violent as it sounds.
What do you like doing outside of work?
I’m a full-time nerd. And not just your common variety cinema and PlayStation nerd, I’m talking comics, board games and painting models. My 15-year-old self would be delighted with the décor in my home office.
What is your proudest professional achievement?
It’s hard to point at one thing but moving from the marketing team into my current PM role where I’m managing all thing web was a big career step for me. I’m proud to be the expert in the room when we’re talking web with clients!
Who would play you in the film of your life?
The Rock. The resemblance is uncanny.
