Hi everyone! I’m Jade, a tennis player with the goal of turning professional. While my primary focus is on the court, I thought it would be interesting to see what life is like in an office environment, and Optix Solutions offered the perfect opportunity. This post is about my two-week experience and what I learned along the way.
My two-week experience at Optix Solutions was an eye-opening and exciting introduction to the working world. From day one, the team welcomed me warmly, making it easy to dive into my tasks and feel like part of the crew.
Working closely with Purva Sheth, the Digital Marketing Manager, I was introduced to Canva and learned to create content for social media posts. Contributing to case studies that showcased the company’s successes was particularly rewarding, and seeing them go live gave me a real sense of accomplishment.
Example of a Canva post I created for a Case Study:
The atmosphere at Optix Solutions was a pleasant surprise—nothing like the chaotic antics of Michael Scott on The Office (U.S.). No awkward meetings where someone sets the office on fire or bizarre pranks involving staplers in Jell-O here! Instead, I found a great team that knew how to balance work and fun. One of my favourite moments was watching the Olympics during work hours—everyone stayed focused on their tasks while enjoying the games in the background, proving that productivity and enjoyment can go hand in hand.
Beyond the practical skills I picked up at Optix Solutions, like working with Canva, sitting in on sales meetings, and gaining insights into PPC (Pay-Per-Click) and CRO (Conversion Rate Optimisation), the experience also taught me valuable lessons that will help me in my tennis career. Just like in tennis, where mental discipline and the ability to adapt are crucial, my time at Optix reinforced the importance of focus, teamwork, and staying calm under pressure—qualities that will undoubtedly help me perform better on the court.
Much like tennis, where preparation is key to success, I saw first hand how careful planning, communication, and strategic thinking drive results in a professional setting. From collaborating with team members to celebrating victories like ringing the gong after a successful sale, I was reminded of the importance of celebrating small wins—both in business and in sports.
As my two weeks came to an end, I couldn’t help but reflect on how enriching the experience had been. From learning new skills and meeting awesome people to enjoying a unique and positive work culture, it was a fantastic introduction to the professional world. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity and excited about what comes next, both in my professional journey and on the tennis court.
